4 Simple Tips to Encourage Exceptional Cleaning

Our staff are trained professionals, but sometimes they come across obstacles that hinder them from cleaning to their full capabilities. We have compiled a short list of tips you can apply to your business that will aid our staff to provide exceptional cleaning.

Decluttering

This tip not only helps our staff, but it is beneficial to the overall efficiency and order of your business. We understand the need for important documents to be readily available on your desk, but as they pile up it can become unorganized. Our staff are not authorized to move client’s paperwork as it could potentially contain sensitive information or could obstruct the client's ability to find information where they left it. Since our staff do not move papers on desks they are not able to sanitize the entire surface. Collecting your documents into folders or drawers not only is more secure, but also allows for more of the surface to be cleaned.

Similar to decluttering your desk, tidying the employee lunch room and putting dishes away opens up more space that can be cleaned. KHJ doesn’t offer dish cleaning services and will work around any kitchenware that is left out. And just like a keyboard, dishes hold germs which can increase transmission, especially during peak illness seasons.

Locking/ Shutting Down Computers

Not only will locking your computer confirm your security it also allows your cleaner to boost the cleanliness of your computer. Think of how many times your hands touch the keyboard and mouse or keypad during your workday. You are bringing germs from everything else you touch during the day back to your desk that will sit and build up. When your cleaning professional is wiping your desk, they are advised to focus specifically on telephones and computers as they are touched several times throughout the day. Kicking Horse Janitorial will not, however, sanitize your keyboard or mouse if the computer is left on and unlocked, or if we have no way of locking it ourselves. To properly sanitize a keyboard and mouse there needs to be some force from the cloth which means pressing down on the keys. If the computer is locked it means that your documents and information is protected and nothing can be altered during the cleaning process. If your computer is left unlocked our staff can not clean the keyboard or mouse and the germs will continue to fester.

Floor Mats

Your customers can bring in plenty of outdoor elements like dust, water, snow and mud. Placing floor mats near entrances lets everyone wipe their feet and reduces the amount of dirt and dust tracked throughout your business. An obvious benefit is a cleaner floor and reduces the time needed to focus on your floors.

Organizing Cords

There is so much necessary technology out there today that businesses use in their daily activities that desks and workstations can be littered with cords. Whether the cords are for charging, speakers, ethernet, printers, photocopiers, telephones, you name it. This mess of cords usually plug into one main power bar and are hidden under or behind desks and other furniture. From a cleaning professionals perspective this jumble of cords can be a nuisance when vacuuming or wiping the top of surfaces that the cords are strewn across. If you can use shorter cords to minimize any excess or purchase inexpensive flexible tubes to neatly group cords together rather than scattered everywhere it will make the job of your cleaning professional much easier.

This tip also benefits anyone working around the cords who will not be tangling their feet in the cords under their desk or unintentionally getting items twisted in the cords laying across their desktop.

By implementing these easy tips, you can reduce the time we spend cleaning your business, in turn reducing your costs and allowing our staff to better sanitize the dirtier and frequently used surfaces.
